IMD Update: Heavy rain and snowfall warning has been issued in Uttarakhand from Tuesday. The Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts for heavy rain and snowfall from January 24 to 29. DM and Disaster Management Department of all the districts have been asked to remain alert. Meteorological Director Dr. Bikram Singh said that due to the activation of Western Disturbance, more impact will be seen in Uttarakhand.
There will be a big change in the weather from 24th. Orange alert has been issued. Moderate to heavy rain and snowfall are likely. There will be rain and snowfall in many areas of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar districts. There is a possibility of hailstorm, heavy showers and lightning in Doon, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar districts.
Roads will be closed, snow will fall up to eight feet: Bad weather will increase trouble in the state. Due to snowfall, there is a possibility of road closure in areas of 2200 meters or above. There is also a possibility of cold day and waterlogging in many areas. Horticulture and crops can be damaged due to hailstorm. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of snowfall of five to eight feet at 2500-3000 meters, two to four feet at 2000-2500 meters, half to one foot at 1500-1800 meters.
