Rajesh Khanna was called a superstar in his time. He was an actor, director and producer. He gave many hit films. Fans used to die for his acting, smile and looks. Later he entered politics as well. He was a Congress Party MP from New Delhi Lok Sabha seat for five years from 1991-96. Later he retired from politics. He received many awards including Filmfare thrice. Talking about personal life, his name was associated with many actresses but he married popular actress Dimple Kapadia. He has two daughters Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna.

Rajesh Khanna gave 15 consecutive hit films in his career, this is a record which is still unbreakable. He worked in many films like Aradhana, Ittefaq, Do Raaste, Safar, Kati Patang, Sacha Jhootha, Aan Milo Sajna, Chhoti Bahu, Anand and Haathi Mere Saathi. He had good chemistry with the heroines of his film. However, his pairing with actress Mumtaz was very much liked. Together they worked in about 10 films, one of which was Roti. Mumtaz once revealed that a scene in the film in which Rajesh Khanna had to carry her and walk on ice took eight days to shoot.
Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Mumtaz had said, “When we were shooting for a scene in Manmohan Desai’s film Roti, he had to pick me up. Every morning when we started shooting, he would say, ‘ Hey fat, come on.”
He had said in an interview with PTI, ‘Carrying me on the ice is a lot of hard work. Every day of that week when we started shooting, I used to joke that now you have to carry a 100 kg sack on your shoulders and he used to say that I was not that heavy. But I was never a skinny girl.”
In those days Mumtaz and Rajesh Khanna were very close. It is said that when Mumtaz decided to marry Ugandan businessman Mayur Madhvani, there were reports that Rajesh Khanna broke down in tears. It is said that Rajesh was hurt by Mumtaz’s decision to leave the industry and settle in London with her husband. Decades later, in an interview with Pinkvilla, the actress revealed that people close to Kaka told her that he was extremely unhappy after marrying Mayur Madhvani. I was not in India then, but later people close to him told me that when I got married and left India, Kaka said, “I have lost my right hand.”
