New Delhi: Telugu cinema star Chiranjeevi was awarded the ‘Indian Film Personality of the Year’ award at the 53rd ‘International Film Festival of India’ (IFFI). After receiving the award, the 67-year-old superstar expressed his gratitude towards the film industry and his fans.

According to media reports, he said in his statement, ‘I thank IFFI and the Government of India for giving me this wonderful award. Some honors are special and this award is one of them. I was born in a middle class family. My fame, name, all privileges are due to the invaluable love of my fans. I am indebted to the film industry.

Chiranjeevi spent a decade in politics
Chiranjeevi also reflected on his earlier decision to give up acting for politics and resolved not to repeat it in his life. He says, ‘I have been in the film industry for 45 years. Out of these four and a half decades, I have spent one decade in politics. For some reason I had to return to the film industry. At that time, I had doubts that how people would accept me. I wondered if they would shower the same kind of love and affection on me.

Chiranjeevi will never leave the film industry
He further says, ‘I was having doubts, because the generation has changed. The love and affection for me in their hearts not only remained intact, but it doubled. I have such bonding with my fans. I promise my fans that I will never leave the film industry. I am a slave to the love of Telugu film fans across the globe. It is because of that love that I am here today and I am being honored with such awards. I will be grateful for your love.
