Kuno National Park : A female cheetah has died in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park. There is news of the death of a female cheetah in Kuno National Park located in Sheopur district. It is being told that the female cheetah Sasha has died. According to the information, Sasha had some kidney related ailment. After which he has died today. ‘Project Cheetah’ was started to increase the population of cheetahs in India. But now this project has got a big setback.

The female cheetah Sasha was suffering from illness for a long time, after which she has now died. Earlier, when Sasha’s serious illness was detected, the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department team had sent an Emergency Medical Response team to Kuno in Sheopur. Sasha’s health deteriorated in the month of January. Initial medical examination revealed that the cheetah had diarrhoea. News agency ANI has told that Sasha was suffering from kidney disease even before coming to India.

In the press note issued by the Forest Department, it has been told that on January 22, the monitoring team found the female cheetah Sasha lethargic. When 3 veterinarians examined Sasha’s health, it was found that he needed treatment. After which he was brought to the Quarantine enclosure on the same day. During this, Sasha’s blood sample was also taken. A blood sample test revealed that the female leopard had a kidney infection.

Immediately after this, wildlife doctor and other specialist doctors from Van Vihar National Park Bhopal reached Kuno with ultrasound machine. When Sasha’s treatment history from Namibia was investigated, it was found that the level of creatinine was more than 400 in the last blood sample test done in Namibia on 15 August 2022. Which also confirms that Sasha had kidney disease before coming to India.

The female cheetah Sasha was running ill for the last 2 months. The team of doctors told that he had an infection in his kidney. After that, the team of doctors was monitoring him for 24 hours for his care and treatment. The same team of doctors and experts from Namibia was also engaged in continuous monitoring. Some time ago, the mother cheetah’s health had recovered a lot and she started hunting but suddenly her health deteriorated again.

The PM had released the cheetahs in the park.

Let us inform that on September 17, 8 cheetahs were airlifted from Nabimia to Kuno National Park located in Sheopur district of Madhya Pradesh. The Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi himself came here to release all these cheetahs in their new home. Namibian cheetahs were released by PM Narendra Modi in Kuno. After that they were kept in Quarantine.

Now how many cheetahs are left in Kuno?

After the end of the quarantine period, they were shifted to a bigger enclosure. After that, 12 more cheetahs were brought from South Africa on 18 February. CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Union Minister Bhupendra Singh Yadav had come here to release them. The total number of cheetahs in Kuno Sanctuary had increased to 20 but today the number has come down to 19 after the death of female cheetah Sasha.
