The information about the power failure went viral on social media in a few seconds. When asked about the power cut, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh alleged that the ‘blackout’ could be a conspiracy by the state government.

A power failure occurred on Saturday minutes before Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s rally during the Congress party’s Bharat Jodi Yatra in Madhya Pradesh’s Mhow. According to eyewitnesses, Dr BR Ambedkar’s memorial on the outskirts of the city was plunged into darkness after two power cuts in a span of 15 minutes. However, power supply was restored within 15 minutes before Rahul Gandhi reached the Ambedkar memorial. Mhow is a Tehsil in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. It is the birthplace of Dr. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company’s executive engineer Rajesh Mahor told PTI that the power failure was due to a technical fault. Bharat Jodo Yatra of Congress entered Mhow on Saturday evening. The Gandhi-led yatra in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh entered Burhanpur district on November 23. According to the program announced by the Congress, the Yatra will cover a distance of 380 kilometers in the Malwa-Nimar region of western Madhya Pradesh within 12 days, before entering Rajasthan on December 4.
